Using a U20i x10 mini pro for augmented reality.

I have a few of these phones lying around.
I have opened up the boot loader and gotten a proper stable customized rom running on it.

I added the camera to the back ground and overlay ed gps positions of the phones.
I'm working on my own interface using the camera to track my hand movements so that it knows what gesture and where on the screen i did it.
almost like Tony Stark's work benches or Accelworld's virtual desktop.

One part that has me puzzle's is how would I fit the screen with a small cable on a head band and make it possible for me to focus on the tiny screen without killing my eye.
Almost like a small monocle a.

I'm asking apon the minds here to please.

I'm hoping if i can make success of this one then i will add another monocle and more powerful chipset.

Take a look at what you're using for HUDs and wearable displays like http://reconinstruments.com/products/sn ... up-display it looks like a lens. Perhaps you could repurpose the optics from an old video camera eyepiece, since those would have been designed to allow you to focus on a small screen very near to your eye.

Edit: oh ok, your screens are a bit bigger than those, perhaps a lens is still an option, but you'd need to find one that works best for you.

I got linux running on her.
Bumped the clock to 844mhz.

And am working on the ui.
I will have to try make a few dump stops.
Finding a camera to pillage may be difficult.
Any other ideas?

I was thinking of using a piece of reflective glass and a lens assembly.
But I would actually need a prism.

any one else got a brain storm?

Ok after much searching i came up with a few idea's.
I found a small digital camera with the required assembly it even has a optical zoom.

Found a nice pair of headphones online too.
i'm going to put the camera assembly on a boom so I can peer thru it.
The 221 x 179 lcd lets me draw hud elements easily.
Then I connected a tiny IOIO board to drive most of the camera assembly..

So I replaced it with the one from the x10.
by moving a lens i managed to get it to focus correctly.

Just need to come up with a nice way to control it and build the phone and battery pack into the head set.
Been taking photo's.. but will upload as soon as i have some cap to spare.


Was thinking of opting for a faster chipset..
maybe rockchip dualcore @ 1.6ghz

There was a game system back in the 90s called the r-zone, was head mounted and had a lens that flipped down in front of your right eye. The slot that the game cartridge originally slid into would make a good place to mount a screen, and behind that is a large space to put the rest of your hardware. Just thought I'd mention it since it might be useful in your project.
