FTDI Driver

Postby ldubber » March 25th, 2016, 7:16 pm

So I have been following the whole Fake FTDI chips & driver bricking/annoyance on HackADay http://hackaday.com/2016/02/01/ftdi-drivers-break-fake-chips-again/

Up until that article I really never realized chips were counterfeited (new to hardware). Now I have some cheap Arduino's (clones not counterfeit).
So I am about 99% sure one if not all of them have fake chips, since they were so cheap, they worked fine, but I have not played with them since that new driver came out.

But in the mean time, which version of the driver does not 1) Brick them 2) or output “NON GENUINE DEVICE FOUND!” for Windows 10 64bit. I have had a hard time tracking this down via google.
Also any suggestions on how to stop Windows from updating that driver in the future.

My plan in the future is to buy legit or look for non FTDI ones.

Thanks! :D

Hi,

This page:
http://electropit.com/index.php/2015/09 ... 3-0-clones

Explains the issue well.
- has a link to the old drivers
- describes how to stop Windows from automatically updating
