Repairing iem (in ear monitors, earphones)

Postby deadman » May 31st, 2015, 1:55 pm

I have (with mishandling) somehow destroyed wire connection on one of my ear pieces (wire is still inside, but it is no longer closed circuit...)

so, i am wondering, how can i disassemble earpiece so i can reconnect (resolder) wire to ear piece, because it looks like protective plastic is glued together

my iem looks like this

thanks for help and ideas :]

The black and orange plastic pieces may be press fitted. You can try to insert a guitare pick between the pieces and separate them.
If glue is used, you can heat the earphone with a hair-dryer and try the trick above.
You can also use a flat screwdriver, but the metal tip may damage the plastic body.

Hi there! I have not been having much knowledge, but my friend is having the same problem. He consulted technician for the help. But after consulting technician also his problem was not solved so he replaced them with new cheap audiophile earphones of having a good quality wire so that the same problem will never occur again.
