What to do with 2000 5mm red leds?

Hey hows it goin. So i have a couple thousand 5mm red leds, the old kind.
Not the newer ones with the clear lens, and i am trying to think of some
Project to do with them. I have been steadly using them for the past year.
Haha had 3000 when i started. I dont want to throw them away, it'd be such
A waste. Anybody have any good ideas for them?

Hmm... The game of life would be pretty cool to have hanging in the living room, as for the led cube.
Any good sites with schematics & code?

Not a schematic, but the MAX6955 chip controls up to 128 LEDs - so 15 of them would run 1920 LEDs using a I2C interface in a 8x16 array, with a one resistor brightness conrol.

Not very often used, but LEDs supposedly can sense light too. So, make a matrix, sure. But also add circuitry and software to create a 3 dimensional space above the array that can sense objects. Work on finger gestures. Move on to 3 dimensional mapping of stationary objects. Finally, consider rendering real time images of the 3 dimensional space above the array as a function of time.
