please indulge me cause I obviously am confused how 18 LED's frontlighting a gameboy is no different than trying to play one in the sun (impossible)

Whatever you say...

the finished driver PCB:

The picture quality is poor, I'll take photos with a better quality when I completed everything.

Sorry for the long abscence, I was very busy the last months.
I tested the frontlight, but I noticed, that it's impossible to see what the display is showing...
Does somebody have an idea for a solution? By the way, the result is worse when using a diffused protection film on the Gameboy display, so I used a clear protection film.

The display shows the mainscreen of "The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons".

Would it look so horrible if you would just put a couple of white LEDs under or above the GameBoy screen (without any diffusing film or anything)?

I've already tried that. The reflective film of the gameboy display doesn't spread the light, so the whole display is dark.

Hi all,

I have been watching this post from time to time, and recently i came across this ->
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/GAMEBOY- ... 49913.html

Maybe you could some how copy the front light design from this front light design, it seems someone has already cracked it, by making their own.

To me, by looking at the pictures, it looks like it has been made from; A customized plexi glass and an "LED SMD" strip.

Anyway i hope this design idea can help crack this issue. I am sorry if this is a dumb idea. lol
