Not open source... Hee hee. Online games should never be. ;)
I've been working on it for like.... 15-20 hours. :P Glad you like it.

The only reason an online game shouldn't be open source is if the code is poor. If the netcode is well thought out and properly implemented, having the source available will do nothing but prove there are no exploitable flaws.

If people can change the variables within the game, they can do some crazy stuff. Just think if you could change the values of whatever you wanted to in Halo. O_O

Well, generally you shouldn't trust the client anyhow. ;)
Check out some games like Assault Cube.

Well, closing the source will not save you from the curious ones, that will use a debugger like ollydbg/softice to tinker around. You'll need to implement proper cryptography of the protocol, yet still this will not save you much. Have a look at the articles, how they reverse engeneer lineage & WoW protocols.
However, most of such hacks work on Magos/l2j, e.g. non-official servers, that do not have much checks implemented. Official servers usually quickly detect anyone tinkering around, so that the admin can BAN 'em.

Still didn't see your comment about linux version.

Necromant, sorry that I forgot to mention Linux compatibility. Version 1 was fully compatible with Wine. I'm not sure about this version. I will look into porting it, but I will probably port it to the PS3/360 first. ;)

I meant a native port. Since it runs on mac that should be pretty straightforward... unless you use M$ DirectX with darwine.
