[Hackaday official] Millenium falcon and massive deathstar

Going along with the theme of star wars, I have 2 more items I'm constructing.

1. MASSIVE inflatable deathstar.
This isn't a complicated hack. I have a 12' beach ball that I'm making a cover for. It is not completed yet, I still have TONS of sewing to do, then I paint it. Any ideas on electronics to add? Maybe some random lights?

2. millenium falcon body for the parrot AR drone.
Again, this isn't super complicated. The toughest part is keeping it light. I have made a quick mockup out of some styrofoam. Unfortunately, it looks all lopsided and funky. I'll have to start over I think. I'd have to weigh again, but I think I can do 150grams of weight. Any thoughts on a better material?

You can see, the sewing wasn't fantastic. Sewing a 3 meter long gentle curve while fighting the weight of the thing wasn't so easy. The fact that I eyeballed all my panels instead of measuring them didn't help either.

I have to sew endcaps on and add a velcro access panel for inflation/deflation, but then it is ready for painting!

I still need ideas for a cool way to do lights or something.

Looks like it. Must have been where I dropped in the song and cut it to length. the project must have been extended, then not reduced.

I mean... nope, just you.

The very top of the deathstar was still open and ugly. I needed to cap it off somehow. After struggling to get ALL THAT MATERIAL to cooperate with my normal sewing machine I gave up. The results were looking horrible. Instead, I made a quick cap and hot glued it in place. I left a small opening so I can reach in when adjusting/inflating the beach ball.

Next up, fix the bottom access area and begin painting!
