Hi folks,
Doddering old S/W developer here. Many of my projects have involved embedded systems and at times when I don't get enough at work, I fool around this stuff on my own time. I started with small devices with the Arduino (what else? ;) ) and have also fooled around with PSOC 4 and ARM Cortex processors (ST flavors.) But that's not what I'm here for.

I just discovered that there are WiFi enabled outlet controllers. :D So far the ones I've found operate from an Android/IOS device using a proprietary app. Some even require a hub. :( I'm looking for one I can control from my laptop. Supposedly I can maximize battery life by keeping charging between 30% and 70% and the BIOS does not provide an API for charging control.

Other things about me? I'm a dyed in the wool penguinista and have an old CRT style dual trace 'scope (and have actually figured out how to use it. ;) )

Thanks!

Hi all, this is my first post. I wrote new firmware using OpenWRT for an inexpensive industrial Chinese relay board. It connects to the cloud using a websocket and accepts SSL protected REST requests. I also wrote a mobile app to drive it. Read about it here:
